Read in books, heard in class, storytelling events were fun and droll. There were times when communities used to come together to attend live narrations of folk stories. They used to gain morals, values and knowledge about different cultures and traditions of India. The essence of Indian culture has clearly been sensed through such events.
To celebrate and make a year of existence of storytelling series, Octave Foundation has brought this very unique event called “Wari Jalsa”. The lost art form of line narration of folk stories is being reintroduced through this Jalsa. To build up the unity amongst diverse communities and to use the live narration as tool to promote culture insights.
Here you’ll be seeing folk stories from south of India, Bihar, UP, Manipur, & Folk songs. The event will be held in different formats with 6 artists performing live. There will be six stories of 10-20min duration. Titles are as follows:-
• Kuchh Nahin Badla Hai
• Laal Paan Ki Begum
• Gunaahgaar Kau
• Nayika – A Nritya Narrative
• Chaar Paheliyaan
• Tapta
Join in to the event with your family and friends and entertain yourselves with amazing folk stories.
